According to the "109-112 Sustainable Water Quality Promotion Plan - Ammonia Nitrogen Reduction Demonstration Project" of the Environmental Protection Agency of the Executive Yuan, it is required to include 7 rivers including Donggang River as demonstration remediation, and the ammonia nitrogen of the rivers must be reduced to a moderate pollution level or better. Therefore, the Pingtung Environmental Protection Bureau planned and promoted the "110 Year Pingtung County Donggang River Basin Water Quality Purification Plant Planning and Design" in 2011, and set up a water purification facility in the Donggang River Basin to improve the ammonia nitrogen pollution of Donggang River livestock wastewater and protect Donggang Stream environment.
